Discord Bot Setup

To allow DiscordSync to communicate with your Discord server, you must create a Discord Bot Application.

1. Create a Discord Application

  1. Go to the Discord Developer Portal.
  2. Click New Application and give it a name (e.g. Hytale Server Bot).
  3. Navigate to the Bot tab on the left sidebar.
  4. Click Reset Token to copy your bot token. Keep this token secret!

2. Enable Required Gateway Intents

[!IMPORTANT] Message Content Intent: DiscordSync requires the Message Content Intent to read chat messages from your channel and forward them into Hytale.

  1. Under the Bot tab, scroll down to the Privileged Gateway Intents section.
  2. Toggle Message Content Intent to ON.
  3. Click Save Changes.

3. Invite the Bot to Your Server

  1. Navigate to OAuth2 -> URL Generator.
  2. Under Scopes, select:
    • bot
    • applications.commands (required for /status slash command)
  3. Under Bot Permissions, select:
    • Send Messages
    • Send Messages in Threads
    • Embed Links
    • Read Message History
    • View Channel
  4. Copy the generated URL, paste it into your browser, and authorize the bot for your Discord server.
  5. Right-click the channel where you want chat synced, click Copy Channel ID, and paste it into config.json.
